Merry Australian Christmas!

I had a custom order for a Christmas Card-in-a-box, and the instructions were that it had to be Australian and that it had to have a warm sun. Hmmmm, didn't know where to start with this one, but once I worked out the Australian part it all started coming together nicely.
I put the punch art kangaroo at the front as it looks like he is pulling Santas sleigh. I used Santa's List Stamp set, stamped in Sahara Sand and then water coloured his skin in Blushing Bride and his suit in Cherry Cobbler.  The sun was made from a scallop circle punch, punch once, then you turn it so it punches again in the middle of the scallop, giving that sun burst look.  There are tiny hand cut presents from Best of Birthdays, in the sleigh with Santa. Some leaves from the bird punch, similar to gum leaves and the card was complete.  This was made for a friend's daughter who will be overseas for Christmas this year and she loved it, so I am happy.

Happy 18th Birthday

I had a very busy week last week with my daughter turning 18 and a family party to organise for her. She didn't want a big party so it was just immediate family and my best friend, who I consider to be family as well. I made 2 huge woks of fried rice, mexican mince and cauliflower cheese. Mum made apricot chicken and we also had garlic bread. For dessert we had mud cake, toblerone cheesecake and a cream sponge cake.
I made her a card in a box, with 18 hand cut paper candles and paper from birthday basics and Cycle Celebrations stamp set. I gave her money for her trip to Paris in January and wrapped up a box with Monopoly money in it (her real money went straight into her bank account. I was very fortunate that I had arranged Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday as annual leave so had plenty of time to get organised.

Card in a box

Tonight I had to make a quick Thank You card after work and wanted to try this card in a box design that I learnt at our recent Team Fundraising Day.
I absolutely love the Eastern Elegance paper, the owl's outfit punched out a really lovely pattern.
I used my favourite sentiment stamp set, Perfectly Penned, it is such a gorgeous classic design.

Envelope Punch Board - Christmas Bon Bon

Today I attended our Team FUNdraising day with about 30 other talented demonstrators. There were 5 demonstrations where we learnt about MDS (My Digital Studio), Brayer Techniques, Envelope Punch Board, Stamping on Candles and an amazing Pop Up Box card.
We got the chance to make a couple of cards, as well as socialising, yummy food, and prizes as well. We raised over $1,000 dollars for Ronald McDonald House Charities, which was a great achievement.
I demonstrated the Christmas Bon Bon that I designed using the envelope punch board and I've made a video showing how I made the Bon Bon.

Girls only Festival

Yesterday I attended the Girls Only Festival with some of my Stampin Up Colleagues and we had a really fun day talking about stamping and scrap booking and card making. Most of the day we were on our feet, this was me at the end of the day sitting down resting my feet for a couple of minutes. I've included photos of 3 of the cards I made featuring the mosaic madness stamp set and punch. If you have a look behind me on the wall my poster is there.
If you missed out on seeing us, we will be at the Stitches and Craft show on Sunday 27th October.

A Very Special Day

Last night I was a very proud recipient of The National Emergency Medal for volunteering during the Black Saturday fires in Victoria over 4 years ago. It was a very emotional day as it brought back memories from the day, and what myself and my colleagues went through. It also reminded me of the strength that we all had and how we all helped each other get through some tough times afterwards. I have come to the conclusion that I would do it all again, that we were all in places we needed to be that day. Some protected local areas and others like me were helping other smaller rural towns. I would like to pass the message on that if you ever get the chance to put your hand up and Volunteer, whether it's for 5 minutes or 5 hours, please do! The satisfaction you will get from Volunteering is like nothing else, knowing you have made a difference in someone's life, made them smile, or just a comforting chat. Sometimes you even make a difference in the lives of hundreds of people you will never get to meet, but you don't need to, because Volunteering comes from the heart.

Exciting Times

I have been very busy recently getting organised to demonstrate at the GO Festival (Girls Only) on October 13th at Melbourne Showgrounds and then 2 weeks later (October 27th) at The Stitches and Craft Show at Caulfield Racecourse. I will be with some of my very talented Stampin' Up! Colleagues, most of whom I met at Convention earlier this year in Brisbane. Cant wait to catch up with them and have a couple of really fun days just doing what we love and sharing it with anyone who wants to stop by and see us.
Here is the link for the GO Festival
Our details arent up on the Stitches and Craft Show yet but here's the link Stitches and Craft Show Melbourne
Here's a sneak preview of something I'm working on for the show

Birthday Basics

On the weekend I had a play with Birthday Basics DSP. I saw this design on Pinterest and made 2 versions. The one on the right uses Birthday Basics DSP and the one on the left I did the Birthday Basics in MDS and printed it on my laser printer as a comparison. They are slightly different, but love the fact that if I'm making multiple cards or invites that I can print exactly what I need in whatever quantities on MDS.

If you would like to download a free trial of MDS from my store click on the link below.

Party Invitations

Last weekend my best friend Cathy and her daughter Rose came over to make party invitations for her birthday in August. When I bought Simply Sketched back from convention her eyes lit up and she commented we could make party invitations with it so I knew which stamp set to get out. The paper is from the new Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper, and she stamped and cut the you're invited in the middle using Labels Framelits. We threw in a bit of retired Melon Mambo ribbon as it matched so perfectly.  You could also use the new Melon Mambo Taffeta Ribbon. We used MDS for the invite details in the middle. Playful Polka Dots Frame which we changed to match the Island Indigo Cardstock. Layered with Celebrate Any Day - Pennant Birthday. To finish it off she stamped Happy Birthday Cupcake in Island Indigo Ink. I think she did a great job and look forward to doing her Stampin' Up! 12th Birthday Party on August 10th with her friends.

Hello Lovely

I made this card recently with the Limited Edition Best of Flowers Stamp set, and Hello Lovely which we received for free at Convention.

My new catalogue order arrived on Monday but I have been busy each night this week and haven't had a chance to use any of it yet.  I just sprayed all my woodblocks with varnish to keep them clean and sealed.  Maybe tomorrow night I will put the stamps on their wood blocks, ready to use on the weekend. I am excited for Saturday as my best friend and her daughter are coming over to make birthday party invites for Rose's party in August.  I have been given the privilege of doing a Stampin' Up! Kids Party for her birthday, I can't wait to plan a couple of projects for 10 girls.  Anyway I should go to bed before the varnish fumes get to me.

Colour Refresh

This weekend I spent some much needed time on refreshing my blog and have come up with a gorgeous new colour scheme of Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana & Pool Party. My Blog Header features my favourite Stampin' Up! Colours and also my favourite Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper from the This and That range. I am going to post a photo of it here as I know one day I will change it and will want to look back on it.  I am glad I got to spend some time using MDS, learnt a few new tricks with it and hope to create some more digital projects soon. I also made a new watermark with MDS and you will see that soon, when I post my next photo.  I am waiting for my Big Brown Box to be delivered next week with lots of goodies from the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

Regal Poppies

One of my favourite things about making cards is watercolouring stamped images with ink. I used my aqua painter and stamp pad ink to colour these gorgeous poppies. I love how when you watercolour with Elegant Eggplant it starts to break down and you get a touch of blue appearing in your ink.

Happy Anniversary Card

It's our 5th Anniversary today so made this card for Dave last night. I wanted it represent love but not be too girly. Glimmer paper never fails to make a card shine. This is my first time using the red one, and it looks lovely with real red ink.

Shadow Box

I found this lovely shadow box today while looking for a frame to make a present for a 7 year old for tomorrow. I was able to handmake flowers from various dies and punches and they sit beautifully under the glass. The smallest flowers are from the boho blossoms punch, I love how miniature they turn out. I also used 2 sizes of scallop circle punch and one flower from the blossom party originals die. I hope Hayley likes this for her new bedroom.

Mother's Day Card with tiny boho blossom rose

I made this card yesterday for a friend who is going overseas next week and needed a card before she goes. I've made a few handmade flowers lately and really love making them. This one is a very tiny rose made using one the boho blossom punch. I love adding teeny tiny embellishments to my cards, those little finishing touches make all the difference.

Back to work

Back to work this morning after 5 days off. Had a nice restful break and got to visit the twins twice :-)
This is the other card I designed over Easter, love how it turned out. Can't believe these gorgeous colours will retire in June/July this year! I think I will have to stock up on them before they go, I haven't even begun exploring what I can do with them. Hope you all had a nice break as well and that work is kind to us all today.

Lovely layers

Had so much fun making this card today, really starting to get the hang of layering on my cards. It adds depth and prettiness and I'm loving Stampin Up's vintage style embossing folders as well. I am hoping to get a few more cards made over Easter and tomorrow we are visiting the twins who came home today :-)

I am finally an Aunty to twins, Jack & Davyn!

Have been a bit slack on my blog recently. I made baby cards a few weekends ago but couldn't post them on here until my nephews were born. Monday afternoon they arrived, almost 36 weeks and weighing approximately 2kgs each. They are so adorable and I wanted to make really special baby cards for them. The latest news is that they may be coming home today! I will have to see if my brother will let me post a photo of them here on my blog so you can all see how cute they are.

Seagull Card

This is the card I made my partner for our 5 year anniversary. We both love going o our Caravan at Phillip Island when we can and his hobby is photography. I saw a similar card on Pinterest and Dave actually took a photo very similar to this about a year ago. He loved the card because it represents the things we both love doing the most, card making (of course) photography and our favourite place, Phillip Island.

Butterfly Card

I created this card a few weeks ago while I was playing around with the new bitty butterfly punch, More Amore paper & Vintage Verses stamp set (SAB 2013). I also used SAB Pool Party Ribbon. I love the gorgeous colours in the More Amore paper, Stampin Up certainly take the hard work out of being creative and choosing colours that look stunning together! I am also loving the dimension you can get simply using the bone folder to 'curl' the paper on the butterflies.

My Brother's Engagement

Last night my brother had his engagement party at Mum's. It was a great night with lots of talking and music and catching up with family who we don't see very often. I wanted to make David & Ginny a special card as they are also expecting twins in April. I received free silver glimmer paper last month from Stampin Up so I knew I had to use that, it is so pretty & sparkly, even more in real life than in the photo. So I ended up with 2 big hearts and 2 baby ones, one happy family! I also made some decorations for their cake with stamps & shrink plastic.

Hearts A Flutter Bundle

Another swap I did recently, this time featuring items from the gorgeous seasonal catalogue. I found it very hard to not buy one of everything, so many gorgeous vintage style items I need! What I love about this card is that it didn't take long to make ten of these to swap with demonstrators from our Facebook group. Definitely looking forward to playing more so stay tuned...

SAB Swap....

The week has gone by so quickly and I promised to post some photos of cards I made recently. This is my Saleabration Swap featuring the free products you can earn until 22nd March. Everything except for the bitty butterfly punch (seasonal catalogue) and Island Indigo card stock (annual catalogue) is only available for free during Saleabration.

All Dressed Up

Finally had some time to play with the dress up framelits and artisan embellishments.
I made the corset on this card about a week ago and made the rest of the card today. Corset is made by cutting down the strappy dress framelit and by adding some crochet trim. I also trimmed the dressform down to make the corset sit nicer.
Looks like someone is getting all dressed up to go out to dinner and a show, although a fellow demonstrator said this was the dress die - the undressed version!

My First Stampin' Up! Card

This is my first post from my iPad.  I have a nifty new app that watermarks my photos for me so I don't have to photoshop the watermark on my laptop.  So I've back tracked and watermarked all my recent cards so you might see a few over the next week or so.
First I will show you my first ever Stampin' Up! Card.  I had so many new products and was a bit overwhelmed by what to do first.  With vintage being my favourite style, I went for a simple elegant look and used my favourite product, the butterfly punch.

One of the girls on our Facebook group for demonstrators asked if we could make a RAK (random act of kindness  card for her Mum who has been going through a rough time lately.  I'm always happy for an excuse to play with my stamps and make a card so this morning, this is what I came up with :-)
